 911 TO THE DAY

Today marked the 11th anniversary of the 911 attacks. 11 years to the day planes were launched with the intention of total devastation of our government. Due to the efforts of the brave few on Flight 93, the Capitol and perhaps the White House was spared. Make no mistake though, the terrorists attacks did harm America. Our economy went into the tank largely because so many centers of commerce in New York were hit. The attacks changed the way we travel. It changed the way we think and act as Americans. A year after the attacks, I worked with a guy who was convinced that in our humble little workplace in Plains, (the old Active Quilting Building) that he was unsafe. The war on terror continues to this day. Through the technology of drones, we regularly take out people who are part of the terrorist network that is hell bent on our destruction. The final result is a quick hit and elimination of a threat. Get them before they get us. The 911 attacks made us less trusting and more vigilant. That’s not a bad thing. In this election year we are seeing the differences in the way we want to see our government function. There is great division on those issues. But no matter what your political stripe is, we all know the following:
1. We’ll never Forget.
2. We’ll never forgive.
3. We’ll never fully trust.
4. If it happens again, we'll come after them either by Technology or old fashioned hand to hand combat.
5. And on this day when more than 3,000 Americans died, we will always prevail.
That is the least we owe those we remember today.
