Duly elected and duly deposed Prothonotary Carolee Medico Olenginski. THE EXILE SPEAKS!!!!
As her ex husband would most likely attest, Carolee Medico Olenginski does not go quietly into that good night. Friday County manager Bob Lawton fired her saying her services were no longer needed. Lawton said that he was not pleased with the Prothonotary’s lack of cooperation in the merging of her office with the Clerk of Courts. In his letter Lawton wrote: “Your communications on the matter since then, however, give me no reason to believe that you are fully committed to contributing to a solution on terms other than your own,” Olenginski Medico called Lawton a dictator and complained that he plotted behind her back to remove her from the position. Look for the former Prothonotary to take a little break and come back in 2013 to run for one of the contest County Council seats. It will be then that County Manager Bob Lawton will learn in Luzerne County politics that the only final acts in politics around here come at the politician’s committal service. FUNDING RESTORED
The Times Leader reports that The Meyers High School Speech and Debate team had its funding restored on Friday when the Wilkes-Barre Area School Board took that action. The board was apparently persuaded by presentations made by team members at Monday’s regular meeting. Debate moderators Kim and Ruth Borland rallied their charges to speak out at the board meeting. The Borlands have an enthusiastic commitment to this project and have contributed a great deal of time and effort to its success. Kudos to the Wilkes Barre Area School Board for doing the right thing. As a taxpayer, I am pleasantly surprised. And thankful.
